Besiktas have been strongly linked with a bid for Chelsea striker Samuel Eto?o but manager Slaven Bilic claims it would be ?too risky? to spend a large amount of money on a player of his age.
The current Turkish Super Lig leaders were said to be close to agreeing a deal and the player?s agent was expected in Istanbul next week to seal the deal.
However, while acknowledging the player?s talents and success over the years, Bilic is not convinced that it would be value for money to sign a player who is in the latter stages of his career.Eto?o turned 33 years of age in March and is said to be on a salary of around ?6.5million a year at Chelsea which could be too much of a risk, according to Bilic. ?Eto?o is a great player, nobody can deny that, he has achieved a lot in his career but when we plan for transfers it is essential that we look at what the player wants, what we expect and the price,? Bilic said.
?Samuel Eto?o is reaching the end of his career, it would be too risky to make an offer at this stage,? he told Lig Tv.
