Manchester City defender Joleon Lescott is in talks with Besiktas regarding a summer move to the Istanbul club, according to Turkishfootball.com.
Lescott has started just eight Premier League matches for City this season and his current contract at the Etihad Stadium is due to expire in June.
Because he is in the final six months of his City deal, the 31-year-old is permitted to hold talks with clubs outside of England with a view to signing a pre-contract agreement.
Besiktas board member Erdal Torunogullari has confirmed that his club have been in contact with Lescott.
Torunogullari told Turkishfootball.com: ?We have been interested in Lescott since last season and are currently in talks with him.
?We have not agreed anything yet with Lescott, he has not signed for us.?
Lescott, who cost City ?22m when he arrived from Everton in August 2009, has been capped 26 times by England at senior international level. However, he has not featured for Roy Hodgson?s Three Lions since March 2013.
Besiktas may need to qualify for next season?s Champion League in order to convince Lescott to make the 1,680-mile move from Manchester to Istanbul.
With three league games remaining, Besiktas are currently one point below Galatasaray, who occupy the final Turkish qualifying place for Europe?s premier club competition.
Besiktas have not competed in the Champions League since 2009, when they finished bottom of Group B despite beating Manchester United at Old Trafford.
